IKEA Rewards Facebook Fans Who BYOF

Mark your calendars IKEA fans, because January 14 will be one special day when you BYOF (Bring Your Own Friends) to your nearest Ikea store. The goal of BYOF is to reward the retailer’s loyal customers and their friends with special perks and giveaways.

We give Ikea a big thumbs up in using social mediachannels to engage with their loyal customers, spread the word to influence their friends and throw in a cause marketing element at the same time. Retailers take note.

Visitors to the Ikea Facebook page can register for the national in-store event and sign up for offers including free food, gift card giveaways and shopping spree giveaways. Customers can even create their very own IKEA Shopping Team and invite friends to join them.

What makes it all the more compelling, is the $1 donation that Ikea will donate to Save the Children, up to $50,000, for every friend that is invited.
