Marketers Expand Their Social Media Horizons

These recent statistics caught our eye. Where does your brand stand in wielding the power of social media?

Social media sites beyond Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are seeing significant boosts in usage both in the US and elsewhere in the world. Smaller social sites with less current marketer usage will benefit from this trend.

Nearly one in five marketers surveyed said they would begin marketing on YouTube in 2012

Though 10% of marketers said they would have a new presence on Tumblr, that is on top of 15% already using it, for an increase of more than 66%. Proportionally, usage of SlideShare would increase even more than that.

Blogs will see the biggest boost with 28% of respondents saying they were not currently using them, but plan to this year. Among the most experienced social media marketers, 91% said they planned to increase their use of blogs.

Online Forums are another avenue marketers are willing to test out with 19% or marketers indicating they would add this to their plans for 2012.

22% of marketers surveyed currently use foursquare with an additional 10% looking to dive in.
